71 years of Indian rule over Janat Nazeer, a black day around the world.

Black Day is being observed all over the world including Occupied Kashmir. There is a complete strike in the occupied valley while rallies have been organized in different cities.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message on the occasion said that India has illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Serious human rights violations continue in Occupied Kashmir. The UN Human Rights Commission has opened a pool of Indian atrocities. The recommendation to set up a UN Commission of Inquiry should be followed

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that India knows that the independence movement cannot be crushed by force.

He said that this year the situation in occupied Kashmir is worse than before. The protest is taking the form of a movement. India needs to rethink its policy.

It may be recalled that during the partition of the subcontinent in 1947, the Kashmiri people had decided to join Pakistan as a Muslim-majority state, but India illegally occupied occupied Kashmir. On October 27, 1947, the Indian Army entered Jammu and Kashmir and massacred a large number of Kashmiri Muslims.

Pakistani border tribes declared war on Indian occupation and entered Kashmir in large numbers with arms to help unarmed Kashmiris. After a fierce battle, the brave tribesmen chased away the Indian army from a wide area which is today known as Azad Kashmir.

Cowardly India, which inflicted atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris, when it could not confront the brave and zealous tribes of Pakistan, immediately took the issue to the United Nations. The international community and the United Nations called for a referendum in Kashmir and for them to decide whether to join either Pakistan or India.

But 71 years later, a referendum on the right to self-determination has not been held in occupied Kashmir and India's aggressive occupation of it remains. What is the oppression that the Indian Army has not inflicted in occupied Kashmir during this period and so far thousands of Kashmiri people have been martyred and millions injured while a large number of women have also been desecrated. However, the United Nations and the international community are playing the role of silent spectators on Indian atrocities.

On the other hand, despite the passage of 71 years, the determination and courage of the Kashmiris remains intact and their struggle for independence continues in full swing. Every oppression of India further inflames their spirit of freedom and every year hundreds of Kashmiris sacrifice their lives to keep the candle of freedom burning.
