Pakistan should export smartphones soon

The Chinese mobile company has teamed up with a Pakistani company to make 49% of its smartphone parts in Pakistan.

Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hamad Azhar on Wednesday called on Amirullah Wala, Chief Executive Officer of Transon Techno. Transn Holding is a Chinese company while Techno is a Pakistani company. The two have started a joint venture called Transon Techno.

The Federal Minister said that the joint venture is currently manufacturing 3 million smartphones annually while this number will increase to 13 million within a year.

Hamad Azhar said the company is now focusing on exporting smartphones and its largest company outside China is in Pakistan.

The Federal Minister said that the device identification, registration and blocking system in Pakistan has paved the way for investment to curb smuggling.
