NASA astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behanken aboard the SpaceX Company's two-orbit Falcon Nine rocket. The rocket was launched unharmed from the Kennedy Space Station in the US state of Florida on Saturday night.

The rocket made a successful landing in space after a journey of 19 hours.

Hurley, the mission's commander and astronaut, sent a message from the control room to the astronauts as they departed, "We have to make a new history by lighting this candle."

With the launch of SpaceX, the door to space has opened up for private companies as well. According to the report, this is the first time in ten years that American astronauts have left the United States for space. This is the same launch pad from which Neil Armstrong first landed on the moon via Apollo 11.

A large number of people were present at the time of the departure of the astronauts while US President Donald Trump was present as the special guest who was also briefed about the program.

According to SpaceX, the spacecraft was scheduled to take off on Wednesday, but due to inclement weather, NASA delayed its departure on the spot.
